7 Tips to Make Your YouTube Travel Unforgettable

By Joseph Williams March 15, 2023

One of technology’s incredible gifts is the ability to seamlessly share one’s travel experience via YouTube or other platforms. The possibility of creating a quality and unforgettable YouTube travel video easily without any professional skills makes things even better. Video makers and editors just need to be smart about their editing strategy and the tools they use for their videos. This is something that businesses and project managers can capitalize on, particularly if it could help them attain their business goals.

There is more to consider than the camera as far as tools are concerned. The internet is full of a wide variety of tools for YouTube video editing. Producers and editors can use a YouTube intro maker or photo editor, among others.

However, there are other things to consider to make an individual or company’s YouTube travel video stand out and leave an imprint. To make an impressive YouTube travel video, here are some tips to help you out.

How to Make Your YouTube Travel Unforgettable

Stick to a Theme

Viewers want to know the general topic or theme of the content they will watch. If the trip is dedicated to a specific topic, such as a trip to the Eiffel Tower or Grand Canyon, it won’t be difficult to know the clip’s heart or central focus.

However, for travel videos that cover a general sightseeing experience, there are vast opportunities for creative focus. For instance, the content can focus on discovering hidden restaurants or ancestral structures. Getting lost during a trip can also add a fun twist to the story.

Don’t Make It Draggy

It is better for viewers to feel like the video should be longer than to be bored by how long it is. Though shooting a lot of footage is a reasonable step, not every clip should be included in the video. Short clips are still better. Editors and producers should carefully choose and filter the best ones to make the video entertaining.

Use Close-Up Footage

While the default of several is to capture footage from a distance, close-ups do wonders for the overall quality of the video. Keeping the distance close is one way to develop interest. Focus on intricacies such as door carvings, window displays, or culinary showcases.

Add Mini-Stories That Fall Into the Big Picture

While the video can focus on one main thing, you can add tidbits of other stories included within it. For example, if one visits a food park with many vendor stalls, the videographer may focus on one or two vendors after capturing the whole picture. This substory may cover shots of the vendor’s face, cooking, and hands. It can also include someone else trying out the product.

In doing so, it is crucial to use different angles, especially close-up ones. This side story could last for around 30 seconds, but it is important to ensure that it will entertain and delight the viewers. The substory should be captured and delivered compellingly.

Plan How it Starts and Ends

Aside from the general YouTube intro of a series of videos, it is vital to plan how the exact YouTube travel video should start and end. These markers tell the viewers that the video is telling a story and that the clip is not just a compilation of random things.

For example, if one is making a YouTube travel video about a skydiving experience, it can start with a short snap of the jump or the fall.

Use Footage That Captures Reactions

Footage should also capture the engagement level of the travelers and not just the travel sights. Hence, the clips should not just focus on the travel subjects but also the clear reactions of the travelers. After capturing this, the focus can then be shifted to what they are looking at or focusing on.

Diversify the Clips

Use a combination of various focal points and angles. This is important so that the audience will stay captivated from start to finish. Diversifying may include focusing on different angles or shooting time-lapses or slow motion. It can also include a combination of distant and close-up shots.

The Bottom Line

Making an unforgettable YouTube travel video has to be intentional and planned. Individuals and companies should carefully think about how they can compel their audiences to stay from start to finish and, even more importantly, perform the call to action. With the growing number of YouTube travel videos available and easily accessible, editors and producers are forced to be extra creative.
