5 Ways  Activate SBI Debit Card

Like its rival, Destiny Credit card, SBI’s ATM/debit card can be used for various purposes and comes with advanced security measures. Today, you can use them for in-store payments, shopping, and online payments, and you can even pay your Amazon credit card bill online. 

And now, the SBI has enabled features like international and contactless transactions to make things easier for users. Even the SBI ATM card activation process is effortless. Read more and find out all about it. 

1. Activate SBI Debit Card through Internet Banking

There are several ways in which you can activate your card. Just like the Fidelity Debit Card activation process, activating it is quite simple. First, we are going to discuss the Internet banking technique. But to opt for Internet banking services, you’ll need to register for Internet banking and link your bank account to it. 

You can easily do that with your SBI YONO app or from any nearest SBI branch. Now read and follow the steps: 

• Go to OnlineSBI.
• Under the Personal Banking column, click on log in. 
• Enter your Username and Password.
• Select e-services, and click on the ATM card services option.
• On the new page, click on New ATM Card Activation.
• On the next page, select your account type, and enter your 16-digit ATM card number.
• Re-enter in the next column to confirm.
• Click on Activate. 
• Verify your details and click on Confirm.
• Your registered phone number will get a security password, copy and paste it on the page.
• And finally, click on Confirm. 

After this, a message like “ATM card has been activated successfully” will appear on the page. If you still have issues, you can visit your nearest SBI branch. 

And if you have successfully activated your debit card, the second thing you’ll need to do is generate a pin for it. It can be done at ATM, SMS, IVR, or by visiting any branch of SBI. Next, we’ll discuss the YONO app technique.

2. Activate SBI Debit Card through YONO App

Launched in 2017; YONO is SBI’s digital banking platform. It’s an online bank that provides access to many financial services to SBI’s account holders. You can do a lot with the YONO application, but let’s first discuss how to activate the card pin through the app. 

If you have newly downloaded the app, follow the steps: 

• Launch the YONO app.
• Enter your Username and Password, and log in.
• Tap on More.
• Select Service Request.
• Select ATM/Debit card services.
• Enter your Profile Password.
• Select ATM/Debit Card Activation.
• Fill in your 16-digit ATM card number.
• Click on Next.
• Enter the OTP you received on your mobile number.

Now, your SBI ATM card activation process will have been successfully completed. After the card activation, you can generate a pin for your card on the app as well.

3. Activate SBI Debit Card Through SMS Service

The answer to “How to activate SBI ATM card by SMS” is to compose a message from the registered mobile number, PIN <last four digits of your 16-digit ATM card> <last four digits of your account number>. Then, send it to 567676. 

After this, you’ll get an OTP, which is valid for two days. Within two days, visit any nearest SBI ATM or SBI branch, now all you have to do is,

• Insert your ATM card under the machine.
• Select Banking.
• Under the Enter Your PIN option, enter the OTP you received. 
• Under the PIN Change option, enter a new pin.

4. Activate SBI Debit Card through an ATM Machine

• Insert your ATM card into the machine. 
• Enter your 11-digit account number and press Confirm. 
• Enter your registered mobile number and press Confirm.
• A message saying ‘the pin has been sent to your registered mobile’ will appear on the screen, press Confirm. 

The OTP you’ll receive on your mobile device will be valid for two days and will be used to generate a new pin.

• Select your preferred language.
• Select the ATM and prepaid card options.
• Press 1 to generate a pin.
• Enter your 16-digit ATM card number.
• Press 1 and confirm your ATM number.
• Enter your 11-digit account number.
• Press 1 and confirm your account number.

Now, you’ll receive an OTP or SBI card activation SMS on your mobile number, which will be valid for the next two days. Use the OTP to generate your ATM card pin and activate your card for transactions.

Activate SBI Debit Card for International Transactions

SBI ATM card’s activation for international transactions is beneficial for users in many ways. For example, you can enjoy SBI reward points on several purchases, use your debit card to withdraw cash across the globe, etc. 

There are four ways you can activate your card for international transactions: 

1. With Internet Banking

For using the Internet banking feature, you’ll need to.

• Go to Online SBI.
• Click on LOGIN.
• Enter your Username and Password.
• Click on the e-services tab.
• On the left of the screen, click on ATM Services.
• Click on ATM Card Limit/Channel/Usage Change. 
• Now choose your ATM card number.
• Pick the Channel type.
• Under select service, change the usage type to International.
• Click on Submit.

After this, your card will be activated for all international transactions. 

2. With Yono App

To activate the SBI debit card for international transactions via the YONO app. Read and follow the steps:  

• Launch the YONO app on your mobile. 
• Log in with your Username and Password.
• Scroll down the page and tap on Service Request.
• Tap on the ATM/debit card.
• Enter your Internet Banking Profile Password.
• Click on Manage Debit Card.
• Select your account.

3. With SMS Service 

Third way of activation for international transactions is by using SMS service. For this, you’ll need to send an SMS in the following format: 

• SMS “SWON<Space>INTL<Space>Last four digits of your card number” and send it to 09223966666. (E.g. SWON INTL 2299)

• SMS “SWON<Space>ECOM<Space>Last four digits of your card number” and send it to 09223966666. (E.g. SWON ECOM 2299)

This will activate your card for international and e-commerce transactions.

4. With SBI Quick Banking

If you have opted for the Internet banking feature yet, you can go for SBI quick banking option. 

• Launch the SBI Quick app. 
• Enter your Username and Password.
• At the bottom of the screen, tap on SBI Quick.
• Tap on the ATM cum Debit Card option.
• Tap on the ATM card Switch On/Off option.
• Enter the last four digits of your card number.
• Choose all your preferable options and tap on Submit.

In this way, you can activate your card for international transactions.

Note:- SBI provides several varieties of debit cards, international transactions cannot be activated on domestic-level debit cards. Therefore, SBI Paywave International Debit Card, SBI Global International Debit Card, SBI Gold International Debit Card, etc., are recommended for international transactions.

How to Activate SBI Debit Card for Online Transactions?

2. With YONO App

The second option for debit card activation for contactless transactions is the YONO app. 

• Launch the YONO app.
• Enter your Username and Password.
• Go to Menu.
• Tap on Services.
• Tap on Manage NFC.
• Select your account.
• Select your card.
• Select NFC Enable/On.
• Tap on Submit. 

This will enable your debit card to make contactless transactions.

3. With Net Banking

Another option to make your card contactless is net banking. 

• Go to Online SBI.
• Click on LOGIN.
• Enter your Username and Password.

• Select e-services.
• Select Manage NFC.
