What is a Credit Card Concierge?

This article explains Amex service and Chase Sapphire concierge, but before hopping into it, let’s understand the basics.
Credit card companies provide these services to manage all of your premium needs. A concierge is a team of workers who help with specific needs. These needs can include making reservations for business services, tours, vacation packages, golf outings, event planning, pet care, and more. Nevertheless, only a few premium or super-premium credit cards include these services.

- Additional Services: It include routine duties like picking up and dropping off laundry, delivering groceries, helping with pet care, providing massages, aromatherapy, and so on.
These are the common types of services offered by both cards. Let’s move ahead and learn about both of them in detail.
About Amex Concierge Service

American Express offers concierge service with its platinum and centurion credit cards. The Platinum Card services are free of charge, but you are still in charge of any purchases, fees, and shipping costs that you approve to be incurred.
You will receive all requested information via email shortly after submitting your request, typically in less than 48 hours.
Remember that not every request will be fulfilled by the concierge, for instance. There may be a sold-out concert or the restaurant may be fully booked. There are times when the team is unable to fulfill your request, even though you can always hope that they will, and they usually do.
The company’s number is 800-525-3355. When you call them, a voice prompt that is automated will ask you what you need. You can respond with terms like flowers, dining, travel, reservations, and more. Your call will be routed to the agent who deals with those kinds of requests by the system.
Alternatively, you can call the number located on the back of your Platinum Card and choose Concierge. Callers from overseas should dial 617-622-6756.
About Chase Sapphire Concierge

Chase offers Visa Signature and Visa Infinite concierge services. You can get assistance from the team with a variety of requests, including making reservations for restaurants and special events like plays, music shows, or sports events. It can also assist you with travel arrangements, such as hotel and flight reservations.
It provides access to regional services like legal and translation assistance. Additionally, it can suggest, order, and coordinate the delivery of thoughtful gifts for your loved ones.
It is Visa, not Chase, that provides and runs the Chase premium services. As a result, to access them, you must speak with Visa. Customers can contact the company whenever they want.
You can call 1-800-953-7392 to use the Chase Visa Signature service and 1-877-660-0905 for the Chase Visa Infinite service.
Note: You can also contact the concierge and ask them to cancel your Chase card.
The Ultimate Concierge Test: Is Amex Concierge Better Than Chase Concierge?
It is tough to decide if Amex Concierge is better than Chase Concierge or vice versa, as both of them are reputed financial institutions with outstanding products. As a result, our team of seven people decided to conduct a test. We planned to ask about travel itineraries, reservations, and booking tickets for our upcoming work trip. Upon calling both companies, these are the questions we asked:
- Where can we store our luggage upon arrival?
- Which entrance to the city is the cheapest and most convenient?
- What restaurant would you suggest so we can try the real deal in the area?
- What are the must-sees or must-dos to make the most of the city?
- Which is the best and most affordable hotel to stay in the city?
We got a lot of useful insights for our trip, and here is our detailed analysis:
Hold Time
The amount of time it took us to get through the team. The table below shows the approximate holding time.
| Card | Hold Time |
| Amex | 10 min |
| Chase Sapphire preferred concierge | 5 min |
Aside from calling, we also contacted the institutions via their email support.
| Card | 1st Email | 2nd Email |
| Amex | 3 days | 2 days |
| Chase | 24 hours | 2 days |
Though Chase was responding faster than Amex, we got all the necessary information via Amex, while the other failed to deliver correctly.
Recommendations
With all the required details like address, hours, phone number, and cuisine type, both services offered fantastic restaurant recommendations.
The American Express provided us with restaurant recommendations much faster than Chase, even though we had to wait many hours on hold.
Chase lagged somewhat when it came to tangible outcomes, even though the experience was far less annoying than American Express.
| Card | No. of Restaurant Recommendation |
| Chase | 5 |
| Amex | 7 |
The Amex Platinum team went above and beyond by giving a brief synopsis of the food, ambiance, and any card-only restaurants. Visa Infinite Concierge, on the other hand, only provided a few words about each restaurant.
City Guide
The Platinum Card team provided several exciting activities and a photo gallery of the recommendations for our visit to the city. This is a helpful service if you’re stuck in a new place for a long time and need help figuring out what to do. They offered choices to suit all types of travelers, such as:
- Sightseeing
- Historical locations
- Museums
- Districts and neighborhoods
- Wildlife and zoos
- Beaches
- Nightlife (bars, cafes, and pubs)
- Live music
- Performing arts (dance, film, music, and opera)
- Ticket brokers and venues
- Sports
- Shopping
- Markets
Visa Infinite Concierge, meanwhile, failed to respond to our inquiry regarding the must-visit and things to do. We may hear from them via email shortly. But in the end, Amex comes out on top in this.
Interactions
Based on our interactions with the service departments of both cards, we can say the representatives are patient and strive to offer the solutions and answers you need.
When we initially called American Express, the representative could not answer every question, so he asked us to wait for a callback. It took 2 days to come back with the itinerary and other specific things. It was annoying, though, but worth the wait as they provided detailed research and answered all the queries.
Even though the Chase service department was quick to respond, they lacked the details that we required somewhere. The representative was helpful by asking detailed questions about our travel needs, budget, and interests, but she failed to provide insightful information.
So, these were our findings from the test conducted by our team members.

Our Verdict – Which Concierge Service is Better Between Amex and Chase?
Amex has won our hearts. The team did proper digging and gave us great information.
However, if you have access to both card services, we recommend using both of them. Each of these services offers something different, and you can utilize the perks.
However, Amex Concierge is better, in our opinion. We’ll continue to ask Amex for its massive city guides before any future trips to add more insights to our research. Talking about Chase Sapphire’s preferred concierge, they need to work on their service.
So this was all about Amex and Chase concierge services. We hope this blog will guide you and support you in making correct decisions. Also, don’t forget to share the article with your friends to make them aware of the perks.
